
According to CCTV News, on June 3 local time, South Korean broadcaster KBS, Yonhap News Agency, and other media said that Lee Jae-myung has been confirmed to be elected as the new president of South Korea.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the current national vote count rate in South Korea is 45.32%. Lee Jae-myung leads with 7,788,698 votes, accounting for 49.10%; Kim Moon-soo ranks second with 6,748,778 votes, accounting for 42.55%. Yonhap News Agency said that the election results are "almost a foregone conclusion."
After many mainstream media outlets in South Korea reported that "Lee Jae-myung, the candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, has been confirmed to be elected as the new president", Lee Jae-myung said, "I pay tribute to the great decision of the people." He then left his home and went to Yeouido, Seoul, where the National Assembly is located.
The official voting for the 21st presidential election in South Korea officially began at 6:00 local time on June 3rd and ended at 8:00 pm that day. The South Korean National Election Commission expects that the final vote count will be obtained around 6:00 local time on June 4.
