To mark the 60th anniversary of the Dongjiang Water Supply to Hong Kong Project, the Hong Kong Coalition has commissioned a creative short film titled "The Fantastic Journey of a Water Drop". The film blends animation and live-action to vividly portray the journey of Dongjiang River water to Hong Kong, using imaginative storytelling to foster public understanding and national pride.
Blending animation and live-action, the film follows the anthropomorphized journey of a single water droplet, navigating through whimsical challenges including "Gravity Challenge," "Pipeline Escape Room," and "Ultimate Water Quality Visa." These metaphorical checkpoints transform complex engineering feats into a relatable and engaging narrative.
Beyond the technical achievements, the film pays tribute to the sacrifices made by provinces like Jiangxi and Guangdong. In order to protect the water source and its downstream environment, these regions have long upheld strict policies: no mining, no logging, no fishing, and no large-scale development along the river basin.
Ultimately, "The Fantastic Journey of a Water Drop" is more than an educational film—it's a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of national unity, the shared responsibility for environmental stewardship, and the deep affection between Hong Kong and the Mainland. Every drop of water that reaches the city carries a silent story of effort, sacrifice, and dedication.
