Sha Tin police are investigating a knife-point robbery at a Hang Seng Bank branch located on the first floor of Fortune City One, Ngan Shing Street. The incident occurred around 4:00 pm on June 2.
According to police reports, a 49-year-old man entered the bank alone and waited for approximately 15 minutes before pulling a 30-cm-long steak knife from a paper bag. He grabbed a 35-year-old female employee surnamed Fong from behind, held the blade to her neck, and forced her to collect approximately HK$382,000 in mixed currencies – including Chinese RMB, US Dollars, and Hong Kong Dollars – from two counters. The suspect fled immediately after obtaining the cash.
Police were alerted by bank staff at 5:12 pm. Officers arriving at the scene reviewed CCTV footage and searched Sha Tin Station and Shek Mun Station, but no arrests were made. The injured employee sustained a neck wound near her throat and received on-site treatment from paramedics before being transported conscious to Prince of Wales Hospital. Medical staff confirmed her condition as stable.
Authorities have identified the suspect as a 1.7-meter-tall local man last seen wearing a white shirt, black trousers, white shoes, a black cap, and a blue mask. Preliminary investigations suggest he may have fled to mainland China. The case has been reclassified as robbery and transferred to the New Territories South Regional Crime Unit for further investigation.
