As the rhythmic beat of the drums echoes across Stanley Beach, a group of paddlers from around the world race forward in unison. Among them are Korean professionals who have lived in Hong Kong for years, expats from the UK and the US, and even second-generation "Stanley Beach" who grew up attending international schools in the city. Today, they paddle not just for sport, but in celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival — embracing Hong Kong, its culture, and its spirit.

"The diversity, the food, the scenery — they make it hard for me to leave," says one British participant with a smile. "I used to miss British food, but not anymore."

The camera shifts to the United Korea team — made up of Korean office workers who have made Hong Kong their home. "We may be foreigners, but through dragon boat racing, we've truly become part of Hong Kong," one member explains. Another's words are even more moving: "Now when I go back to Korea, it feels unfamiliar. It's Hong Kong that feels like home."

Hong Kong's magic lies not only in its cityscape and skyline but in its remarkable cultural fusion. "It's a place where East meets West — openness and tradition coexist in harmony," says one rower. The city's energy is contagious, inspiring everyone who lives here. For many of these "new Hongkongers," it's not only about the people and the pace — it's also about the natural beauty. "Where else can you go from Sai Kung's coastlines to Central's skyscrapers in under an hour?"

With its unique charm, Hong Kong captures the hearts of all who set foot here. Click to watch the video and hear these 'new Hongkongers' share their stories — in their own words. As the dragon boats glide across Victoria Harbour, what you witness is more than fierce competition — it's a celebration of belonging, of home, and of the many reasons people choose to stay in Hong Kong.
