The Immigration Department held the Immigration Department Youth Leaders Corps (IDYL) Grand Parade and Promotion Ceremony 2025 on May 25 at the Immigration Service Institute of Training and Development in Tuen Mun.
A total of 117 IDYL members participated, including tertiary students and Form 1 to Form 6 students from 21 secondary schools. Dr. Cheng Kam-chung, the IDYL Commissioner, served as the reviewing officer and led the promotion ceremony, attended by the Director of Immigration, Mr. Benson Kwok, and representatives from the member schools.
The IDYL Guard of Honour debuted their new uniform, conducted the flag-raising ceremony, and performed a silent foot drill, forming "IDYL 2025" on the parade ground. To mark the fifth anniversary of the Hong Kong National Security Law, they also created a shield pattern and the numeral "5," symbolizing protection and future development.
In his speech, Dr. Cheng highlighted the potential of young people and encouraged them to engage with their community while pushing their limits. He noted IDYL's growth from around 100 members in 2013 to over 1,000 today, with partnerships with 25 schools. He urged members to uphold good morals and demonstrate leadership.
This year, 10 members were promoted to Advanced Members and 59 to Leading Members after completing training, assessments, and interviews.
Established in 2013 and renamed in 2021, the IDYL aims to provide leadership training and foster love for the country and Hong Kong, developing youth with strong values and a commitment to community service.
