Today (May 22) marks "Bitcoin Pizza Day." To celebrate this special occasion, HashKey Exchange, a licensed virtual asset platform in Hong Kong, is treating the entire city to pizza.
HashKey Exchange's Pizza truck will hit the streets today, giving away free pizzas. The Pizza truck will be at Central Pier 9 (near the Observation Wheel) from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, and then move to Haiphong Road in Tsim Sha Tsui (near Silvercord) from 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
Moreover, new customers participating in the event and opening accounts on the spot can earn rewards of up to HK$18,800 in value.
Bitcoin Pizza Day originated 15 years ago when a programmer in Florida, USA, made the first-ever Bitcoin real-world transaction in 2010 by purchasing two pizzas for 10,000 Bitcoins. With yesterday's Bitcoin price at US$105,000, 10,000 Bitcoins are valued at around HK$8.2 billion. This "legendary pizza" has become one of the most classic stories in the cryptocurrency world. Today, with Bitcoin prices skyrocketing by about 35 million times, Bitcoin Pizza Day has become an annual celebration in the global crypto community.
