
CATL (03750), a global leader in power batteries, surges 16.4% on its first trading day on May 20, with a closing price higher than the listing price, earning HK$4,320 per board lot, and recording a turnover of HK$8.28 billion.
Financial Secretary Paul Chan stated in his blog that the Hong Kong stock market has seen fluctuations this year, initially pressured by the trade war in early April but subsequently trending upwards. The Hang Seng Index closed at 23,345 points last Friday, with a cumulative increase of around 16%, outperforming other major markets.
Chan noted that the new stock market in Hong Kong is thriving, with the cumulative amount raised by new stocks this year exceeding HK$60 billion, temporarily ranking first globally in terms of fundraising scale.
