The Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) and the Hong Kong Film Development Council (FDC) led a delegation to the 78th Cannes Film Festival in France. Under the theme "Hong Kong Cinema @ Cannes 2025," they collaborated with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to establish the Hong Kong Pavilion at the festival's film market, aiming to enhance the international visibility of Hong Kong film talents.
The pavilion's opening took place on May 15, with Mr. Gary Mak expressing hopes that the promotional activities would showcase Hong Kong films to global audiences. He congratulated the film "Sons of the Neon Night" for its selection in the festival's "Midnight Screenings" on May 16.
Throughout the festival, the CCIDA and FDC organized networking events, including the "Hong Kong Night" reception, which attracted over 800 industry representatives. They also hosted seminars and business matching sessions for Hong Kong producers to connect with counterparts from various countries, fostering international collaboration.
Mr. Mak and Dr. Wilfred Wong met with global film organizations and festival representatives to strengthen ties and explore overseas markets, aiming to bring more outstanding Hong Kong films to audiences worldwide.
