On May 10–11 local time, senior trade negotiators from China and the US held high-level trade talks in Geneva, Switzerland. The Chinese delegation was led by Vice Premier He Lifeng, while the US side was represented by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
The talks achieved substantial progress, significantly reducing bilateral tariff levels. The US agreed to remove 91% of additional tariffs, while China reciprocated by canceling 91% of its retaliatory tariffs. Additionally, the US suspended its 24% "reciprocal tariffs", and China responded with a corresponding suspension of its 24% countermeasures.
