Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva arrived in Beijing on the evening of May 10 for a state visit aimed at strengthening ties with China. In a whirlwind schedule, Lula held multiple meetings with Chinese business leaders and updated his social media accounts 109 times within just 20 hours, according to reports by CCTV.
During his opening speech at a bilateral business forum, Lula praised China's contributions to global trade, countering narratives that portray the country as an adversary. Lula said that China has always been a role model, emphasizing the country's willingness to invest and conduct business in nations often neglected by other major powers over the decades.
Ahead of the forum, Lula met with executives from GAC Group, Windey Energy Technology, and Envision Group. One of the key outcomes of these meetings was the announcement of a US$1 billion partnership with Envision Group to develop sustainable aviation fuel. Additionally, Brazil and Windey Energy Technology agreed to establish a research and development center focused on renewable energy.
According to the Brazilian side, further agreements are expected to be signed during Lula's visit, signaling deeper cooperation between the two countries across various sectors.
