With a fluffy head and bright, sparkling eyes, a tiger cub named "Brown Sugar" has become one of the stars at the Shanghai Zoo. Known for her cute appearance and lively personality, "Brown Sugar" has grown from a curious little cub into a vibrant young tiger.
Born in August 2024, "Brown Sugar" was initially abandoned by her mother. Thanks to the advanced artificial nurturing techniques at Shanghai Zoo, she has thrived under the careful care of her keepers. Recently, she moved to a new home where she can fully express her natural behaviors.
Taking care of a tiger cub like "Brown Sugar" is a complex task. The keepers had to carefully mix the right proportions of milk and gradually introduce solid food. They monitor her mental state, appetite, and bowel movements closely, taking immediate action if anything seems off. Under their attentive care, "Brown Sugar" has maintained excellent health.
The name "Brown Sugar" was inspired by a label on the box in which she initially lived after being taken from the incubator. When the staff saw the words "Brown Sugar Fried Dough Twists" (a type of Chinese sweet snack) on the box, they decided to name her "Brown Sugar." At four months old, she "graduated" from the nursery and moved to the exhibit area, where her playful nature and interactions with visitors have made her increasingly popular.
With everyone's support, "Brown Sugar" has grown from just over 2 pounds to over 60 pounds, and her energetic personality shines through. To create a better living environment for her, "Brown Sugar" recently experienced her first move to a larger exhibit. Keepers are also planning more enrichment activities to ensure her healthy development.
