During an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press," Trump told host Kristen Welker that he had a "warm spot in his heart" for TikTok and that he'd like to see the popular app remain available in the US.
Trump said he won young people by 36 points, no Republican has ever won young people. "TikTok is very interesting, but it'll be protected," he said.
Asked if a deal was close, Trump told NBC's Kristen Welker, "We actually have a deal. … We have a group of purchasers, very substantial people."
Trump has already twice granted a reprieve from the enforcement of a congressionally mandated ban on TikTok that was initially due to take effect in January.
