In a traffic accident on the West Kowloon highway yesterday (May 1), a Citybus crashed at a fork in the road, injuring 22 people, including the bus driver and passengers.
According to the CAM video obtained by the media, it can be seen that the Citybus involved has been traveling along the West Kowloon highway in the direction of Kwai Chung, and turned left signal; but when it reached the fork in the road near the opposite side of Hoi Lai Estate, which is respectively going to Tsing Yi and Lantau on the left, and going to Kwai Chung and Yuen Long on the right, it did not show signs of turning, and then directly struck to the water horse, the organ crash barrier and the curb, the vehicle was slightly bouncing up at once and swayed from side to side, and finally came to a halt on the side of the road to Lantau.
The incident occurred at about 12:30 pm yesterday afternoon, a Citybus Airport Express bus A22 from Lam Tin to the airport, along the West Kowloon highway tends to Kwai Chung direction, when approaching the Cheung Sha Wan Hoi Lai Estate suspected to be out of control, crashed into the water horse and railings, the bus front damaged, including the bus driver on board a total of 22 people were injured, sent to Princess Margaret Hospital, Caritas Medical Centre and Kwong Wah Hospital for treatment. In addition, the male bus driver of Citybus was arrested on suspicion of "dangerous driving" and has been released on bail pending investigation, and is required to report to the police in early June.
A passenger on the bus said he was sitting on the left side of the upper deck and the driver braked twice during the incident, and on one occasion a loud crash was heard, after which he fell to the ground. Citybus said it will actively cooperate with the police in the investigation and has initiated an internal investigation to understand the details of the incident.
