Hong Kong Airlines announced on April 28 that it will implement an updated checked baggage policy starting April 30, transitioning to a piece-based system aligned with fare classes to enhance passenger convenience. Under the new policy, all bookings made from April 30 onward will include a default baggage allowance, eliminating previous options with no checked luggage.
Economy Class passengers, including adults, children, seated infants, and non-seated infants, will now receive one free checked bag weighing up to 23 kilograms. Those opting for Main Economy or FlexiPlus Economy fares will be entitled to two free checked bags (23kg each). The airline has discontinued its "0kg checked baggage" fare tier, ensuring all tickets now incorporate a baseline luggage allowance. Notably, the entry-level Basic Economy fare already includes 20kg of free checked baggage.
Hong Kong Airlines emphasized that each checked bag must not exceed 32kg in weight, with size restrictions varying by baggage type: total dimensions (length + width + height) must remain within 158cm, while specific luggage categories are limited to 115cm in combined length and width. The adjustments aim to simplify travel planning, allowing passengers to select fare classes that best match their baggage needs while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
The revised policy reflects the airline's commitment to delivering a more flexible and passenger-centric experience, enabling travelers to manage their journeys with greater ease. For full details, visit Hong Kong Airlines' official website.
