The Cheung Chau Climbing Carnival will be held at the soccer pitch of Pak Tai Temple Playground, Cheung Chau, from noon to 6 pm this Sunday (April 27). Public members are welcome to join for an early feel of the exciting atmosphere of bun scrambling.

Interested members of the public who are at least one meter in height can enroll on-site to participate in bun tower climbing. They will climb onto a 14m-tall bun tower used in the Bun Scrambling Competition to experience the fun.

The Hong Kong, China Mountaineering and Climbing Union has been invited to brief participants on the skills and safety matters of bun tower climbing. Participants can, therefore, learn more about climbing while enjoying the fun.

At the Carnival, public members can also make wishes at the Wishing Bun Tower and join other activities (including variety shows, an exhibition of the winning entries of the Student Drawing Competitions, booth games, and handicrafts-making), enjoying the day with families and friends. In addition, there will be a game booth for the mass participation events of the 15th National Games to encourage public participation in the athlete selections.

The Bun Tower Climbing Team Relay will be held from 9 am to noon on the same day. Teams from local tertiary institutions, government departments, public utilities, and commercial and industrial organizations will compete in the relay. Public members can watch the sport on-site and cheer for the teams.

The Climbing Carnival and Bun Tower Climbing Team Relay are the highlights of the 2025 Bun Carnival as jointly organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and the Hong Kong Cheung Chau Bun Festival Committee, with the support of the Cheung Chau Wai Chiu County Association Limited, the Cheung Chau Rural Committee, the Islands District Office, and Hong Kong, China Mountaineering and Climbing Union.

For inquiries, don't hesitate to contact the Islands District Leisure Services Office of the LCSD at 2852 3220, or visit the department's website (www.lcsd.gov.hk/en/bun/index.html).
