On April 21, the Hong Kong, China Table Tennis Association (HKTTA) announced that it has reached a long-term agreement with the World Table Tennis (WTT) organization to host major WTT events. The first of these will be the WTT 2025 Finals, scheduled to take place from Dec. 10 to 14 at the Hong Kong Coliseum.
Throughout the season, the world's top table tennis players compete to accumulate WTT ranking points. Ultimately, the top 16 men and 16 women, along with the top eight mixed doubles pairs—marking the first time mixed doubles will be included as an official event in the Finals—will qualify to compete in this prestigious tournament. Thanks to efforts by the HKTTA and WTT, HK has secured a wildcard entry for the mixed doubles event, ensuring local players can participate in this major table tennis spectacle.
The signing ceremony was attended by International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) President Petra Sörling, HK team star Wong Chun-ting, and other representatives of the HK table tennis team. The agreement was signed by HKTTA President Yue Kwok-leung and WTT CEO Steve Dainton.
