In his statement, Farrell expressed deep sorrow, saying, "Dear brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis." He confirmed that the pope passed away at 7:35 am, emphasizing Francis's lifelong dedication to serving the Lord and the Church.
Farrell highlighted the pope's teachings on living the Gospel values with fidelity and love, particularly for the poorest and most marginalized. He concluded by commending Pope Francis's soul to the merciful love of God, expressing immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of Jesus.
