
Chief Executive Mr. John Lee will lead a delegation to Zhejiang on April 22 to attend the High-Level Meeting and the First Plenary Session of the Hong Kong/Zhejiang Co-operation Conference in Hangzhou, as well as the Hong Kong Investment Promotion Conference - Zhejiang (Ningbo) Forum and the Ningbo-Hong Kong Economic Co-operation Forum in Ningbo. He is scheduled to return to Hong Kong on April 25.
Mr. Lee emphasized that Hong Kong and Zhejiang have maintained strong exchanges over the years, fostering close ties in areas such as economic affairs, trade, cultural exchanges, and youth engagement. He noted that both regions play significant and unique roles within the country's overall blueprint. This visit aims to establish a specific co-operation mechanism between Hong Kong and Zhejiang, further strengthening collaboration, achieving mutual benefits, and contributing to the country's high-quality development.
Many officials will accompany Mr. Lee on parts of the trip, including Chief Secretary for Administration Mr. Chan Kwok-ki; Deputy Financial Secretary Mr. Michael Wong; Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Mr. Erick Tsang; Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Mr. Algernon Yau; Secretary for Housing Ms. Winnie Ho; Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Professor Sun Dong; and Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Miss Alice Mak. The Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Ms. Carol Yip, will also join the delegation.
During the visit, Mr. Lee and his team will meet with leaders from Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou, and Ningbo, as well as visit local facilities and projects focused on innovation, technology, and healthcare.
Mr. Chan will depart for Hong Kong on April 23 and will serve as Acting Chief Executive from the afternoon of April 22 until noon on April 23, and again from the evening of April 24 until April 25. During Mr. Chan's absence, Secretary for Justice Mr. Paul Lam, SC, will assume the role of Acting Chief Executive.
