According to a report by The Global Times, CNN recently published an article highlighting the unprecedented challenges faced by the US toy industry as a result of increased tariffs on Chinese imports under the Trump administration. Isaac Larian, CEO of California-based MGA Entertainment, expressed his frustration over the difficulties in sourcing materials domestically, particularly for doll hair production.
"There is no American factory anywhere that can make hair for dolls. What am I supposed to do? Sell bald dolls?" Larian said.
The article cited data from the Toy Association, which revealed that nearly 80% of toys sold in the US are manufactured in China. For American families, this means toys that were once affordable are now becoming luxury items due to the rising production costs caused by tariffs.
