The Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Sun Dong, said after attending the opening ceremony of the Business of Innovation and Technology Week today (April 13) that in the face of the special situation of trade and tariff wars, Hong Kong has to be even more insistent on freedom and openness, globalization and collaborative innovation.

Sun said that Hong Kong in April is attracting the world's attention with its innovation and technology momentum, demonstrating to the world that Hong Kong is building itself into an international innovation and technology center based in the Asia-Pacific region with global influence. As one of the flagship events of the business week, this year's innovation and technology event focuses on five major themes, including artificial intelligence, robotics, low-altitude economy, cybersecurity and smart transportation. The scale of this year's event is even bigger than last year's, with more than 500 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions.

In addition, the World Internet Conference will hold its first Asia Pacific Summit in Hong Kong tomorrow, fully recognizing Hong Kong's role as an important bridge and two-way platform connecting China and the world. More than 1,000 political and business leaders, corporate representatives and academics will gather at the summit, highlighting Hong Kong's role as a hub for international technological cooperation.
