US President Donald Trump announced on Friday (April 4) that the sell-or-ban deadline for the Chinese video and audio sharing platform TikTok has been extended for another 75 days. The US media reported on Sunday (April 6), citing sources, that US Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a letter of assurance to Apple, saying that it should act in accordance with the above decision to extend the deadline, and Apple has not removed the app from the app store as a result.
Sources said Bondi said in a letter to Apple that the company should act on Trump's extended deadline against TikTok, which is owned by ByteDance, and would not be penalized for keeping the platform in the App Store. Apple will keep TikTok in its App Store for at least 75 days after receiving assurances from Bondi.

Trump, returning to Washington on an Air Force One jet on Sunday, said China's opposition to new US tariffs had stalled a deal to sell TikTok and keep it operating in the US. He pointed out that the TikTok deal is almost done, not quite, but pretty close, and said that if he lowered the tariffs slightly, China would ratify the deal in 15 minutes, which shows the power of tariffs.
