Mr. Charles Ng, Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), has begun a visit to the Middle East from April 6 to April 10, focusing on Saudi Arabia and the UAE. This trip underscores Hong Kong's commitment to enhancing economic relationships and positioning the city as a key gateway for Middle Eastern businesses seeking opportunities in the Mainland and the Asia-Pacific region.

Hong Kong enjoys a strong relationship with the Gulf region, marked by increasing cooperation in finance, trade, and investment. The city's merchandise trade with the Gulf Cooperation Council reached US$21.6 billion in 2023, supported by initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative.

"Countries in the Middle East are diversifying their investments, and Hong Kong is uniquely positioned to support this shift as a global financial center," said Mr. Ng. He highlighted the city's robust legal framework and free flow of capital and information, making it an attractive hub for trade and innovation.

During his visit, Mr. Ng will participate in high-level business roundtables and meet with leaders from Middle Eastern companies to discuss strategies for global expansion through Hong Kong. These engagements aim to strengthen economic ties and attract further investment from the Middle East.
