Strange spiral-shaped lights recently illuminated the European night sky, sparking curiosity and intrigue among observers. Images of the phenomenon were shared widely on social media, with users describing the lights as "oddly shaped." Today (April 5), American scientists provided an explanation, noting that such lights have long been a distinctive feature of rocket launches.
The scientists further explained that with an increasing number of objects being sent into space, more people worldwide are now witnessing these extraordinary displays firsthand.

Last week, SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket was launched from Florida, and the UK's Met Office stated that the spiral lights were very likely caused by the rocket.
In previous SpaceX launches from Florida and California, a similar phenomenon known as the "jellyfish effect" has been observed. This effect is characterized by a massive, teardrop-shaped light trail that expands and stretches as the rocket ascends into the sky, creating a mesmerizing visual spectacle.
