On April 1, the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Rosanna Law, attended a meeting of the Legislative Council's Panel on Economic Development, stating that Hong Kong Disneyland is a key tourist attraction that brings significant economic benefits to the city, with a cumulative economic value added of HK$149.1 billion.
Law noted that, according to the 2024 Hong Kong Tourism Board's visitor analysis report, Disneyland ranks first among paid attractions favored by overnight visitors. As one of the largest employers in Hong Kong's tourism and family entertainment industry, Disneyland also creates numerous job opportunities, nurturing talents in hospitality, engineering, creative fields, and design, while investing in youth development. Additionally, Disneyland is committed to serving the local community and promoting the integration of culture, entertainment, sports, and tourism.
Law added that this year marks the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong Disneyland, which will launch a series of new programs starting in June, including a special anniversary castle stage performance, the largest-ever parade, and a special nighttime light and shadow show. In the future, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau will continue to collaborate closely with The Walt Disney Company to advance remaining projects in the multi-year expansion plan, including a new area themed around Marvel.
Recently, Hong Kong Disneyland also announced self-funded plans for a new Pixar-themed entertainment experience.
