Currently, the MTR network includes 99 heavy rail stations, 68 light rail stations, and the Airport Express and high-speed rail services. MTR's Managing Director, Jeny Yeung Mei-chun, stated on March 31 at the Legislative Council's Subcommittee on Matters Relating to Railways that the network serves an average of over 5 million passengers daily. To further enhance the travel experience for passengers, MTR continues to invest resources in upgrading station facilities and promoting smart travel. The addition of two new exits at Ho Man Tin Station, connecting to the nearby newly completed community, is expected to be completed within this year.

Yeung noted that several new or upgraded exit facilities were put into operation last year, including new exits at Yuen Long Station and Wong Chuk Hang Station; the addition of escalators and improved lighting at the A3 exit of Shau Kei Wan Station; a new lift connecting the ground level and lobby at the A exit of Mei Foo Station; and the reconstruction of the ramp at the A exit of Sunny Bay Station.

In addition to the two new exits at Ho Man Tin Station, MTR has also started the project to add a C exit at Tai Wo Hau Station, expected to be completed by 2028. MTR is also continuously renovating or replacing escalators. By the end of last year, over 520 escalators had been renovated, representing about 40% of the total. MTR has completed the replacement of 8 escalators so far and is in the process of replacing another 9. In the future, they will gradually adjust the speed of more than 200 escalators to reduce accidents.
