The Kai Tak Sports Park will host a world-class sporting event this summer! TEG Sport announced on March 31 that the "Hong Kong Football Festival 2025" will feature three Premier League teams—Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham—as well as Serie A powerhouse AC Milan, all participating in exhibition matches at the park in late July. Ticket prices for the exhibition matches start as low as HK$399, sparking excitement and anticipation for a sold-out event.
Liverpool vs AC Milan "Champions League Final" and Arsenal vs Tottenham "North London Derby"
The two exhibition matches featuring visiting teams will take place at the Kai Tak Sports Park. On July 26, Liverpool will face AC Milan, followed by Arsenal battling Tottenham on July 31. Prior to the matches, all three Premier League teams will hold open training sessions, giving fans a chance to watch their preparations up close. Notable former players from the four teams, including Arsenal's right-back Bacary Sagna, Liverpool's goalkeeper David James, AC Milan's Pirlo, and former Tottenham captain Lloris, attended yesterday's press conference.
These matches are historic rivalries; Liverpool and AC Milan have faced each other in the Champions League finals in 2005 and 2007, with each team winning once. Additionally, the Arsenal vs Tottenham match, known as the North London Derby, will be the first to take place outside of the UK. Ticket prices for the matches range from HK$399 to HK$2,499, while prices for the open training sessions range from HK$99 to HK$299. The exact date for ticket sales and more details will be announced by the organizers.
These four teams have visited Hong Kong in the past. Liverpool, the "top dog" of the Premier League, previously came in 2017 for the Premier League Asia Cup, defeating Leicester City with goals from Salah and Firmino. The other three teams last played against Kitchee, with Tottenham winning 4-1, Arsenal drawing 2-2 in 2012, and AC Milan winning 2-1 in 2004.
The visiting teams feature star players, including Liverpool's in-form striker Mohamed Salah and defender Virgil van Dijk; Arsenal's Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, and Martin Ødegaard; Tottenham's South Korean forward Son Heung-min; and AC Milan's Portuguese winger Rafael Leão.
The organizers stated that all four teams are committed to sending their strongest line-ups
TEG Sport Director Rachael Carroll emphasized that "these two matches will be a global focus, expecting to attract at least 100,000 spectators, half of whom will be fans from outside Hong Kong, bringing significant economic benefits to the city." Carroll also hopes to shine a spotlight on Hong Kong through this event, stating, "This is a great opportunity to promote the Kai Tak Sports Park globally, and it's fitting to host these two major matches to celebrate its opening, with all four teams eager to compete here."
Rachael Carroll revealed that all four teams have committed to send their best squads, saying, "The teams coming are all big clubs with multiple star players, so there's no need to worry, both matches will be high-quality contests."
