In today's global art scene, which increasingly values diversity and inclusion, female artists are no longer just subjects to be written about; they are active creators shaping their narratives and destinies. The 2025 Art Basel Hong Kong welcomes a significant participant-Zhao Hai-tien. Born in 1945, this seasoned female creator showcases the resilience and enduring creative power of women through her artistic practice spanning over half a century.

As one of the few Chinese women who studied modern art abroad in the 1960s, Zhao Hai-tien established her language in her work long before society granted women equal opportunities to voice themselves. Her art serves as a mirror of time, reflecting social change, cultural collisions, and the evolution of female identity. Now in her eighties, she continues to create without compromise, using a profound perspective to explore the intersections of technology, consciousness, spirituality, and the cosmos.

In this exhibition, she presents significant oil paintings from the 1990s to 2025, including the original mural "Recreation of Being," created in 1997 for the Fortress Hill MTR station, which embodies her philosophical reflections on "existence" and "recreation." This is not only a retrospective of her art but also a testament to the spirit of female artistry-her century-spanning creative life inspires generations of women to bravely express themselves and remain true to their identities.

Through this exhibition, we not only see Zhao Hai-tien but also countless women who have persevered in their creative endeavors throughout history. They write silent yet powerful cultural chapters with their brushes, thoughts, and lives.
