The Chief Executive, John Lee, attended the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2025 today (March 25) and delivered a speech at the sub-forum on global free trade port development.
He said Asia, as an engine of global growth, must promote multilateralism and reject protectionism, and that Hong Kong will be committed to deepening international exchanges and cooperation.
Lee said Hong Kong has signed investment agreements covering 33 economies and free trade agreements covering 21 economies. He hoped that Hong Kong can join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership as soon as possible so as to better contribute to regional cooperation.
Hong Kong will continue to work with Hainan to promote free trade and market liberalization for the benefit of the world, he said.
Describing the multi-local cooperation as a "rising tide lifts all boats", Lee said that in an ever-changing world, all parties must be united and work together, and that as a responsible economy, Hong Kong can make efforts to expand free trade and harmonize standards.
