The Chief Executive, John Lee, announced today (March 18) at a press conference before attending the Executive Council that the polling for the 8th Legislative Council election is scheduled to be held on Dec. 7, 90 members who are patriotic, love Hong Kong and have the ability will be elected. The election will be preceded by Election Committee subsector by-elections, which will be held on Sept. 7.
Lee said that he had instructed the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau to make preparations and work closely with the Electoral Affairs Commission to ensure the smooth conduct of the LegCo election.
