South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun has found himself at the center of a growing controversy following allegations regarding his past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron. Recent reports from Dispatch and ETtoday have further fueled public discourse, revealing new details and sparking intense debate about Kim's alleged involvement in their relationship and financial matters.
On March 12, Korean media outlet Dispatch released a report claiming that Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron had indeed been in a relationship despite their 12-year age gap. While Kim Soo-hyun's agency, Gold Medalist, has consistently denied these allegations, Dispatch cited multiple sources, including a close acquaintance of the actor, who allegedly stated, "Because of Kim Sae-ron's age, they could never publicly admit it."

The report also addressed a 700 million KRW (approx. $483,000 USD) loan Kim Sae-ron reportedly owed Gold Medalist. The agency claimed the loan certification request was merely procedural and was willing to wait for repayment. However, chat screenshots showed Kim Sae-ron pleading for more time to settle the debt. Adding to the distressing details, neighbors of Kim Sae-ron recalled seeing her frequently crying in the hallways and even noticing self-inflicted scars on her wrists before her passing.
As backlash mounted, Gold Medalist issued multiple statements denying the allegations. Their first statement on March 10 strongly refuted the accusations, labeling them as "malicious and false" and warning of legal action against the media outlets, which had been reporting on the case.
However, as more allegations surfaced, the agency's March 12 statement took a more cautious tone, simply stating, "Our stance remains unchanged." On March 13, Gold Medalist released a third and more assertive statement, announcing that they possess clear evidence to counter the claims and will provide a comprehensive response next week to clarify the truth behind the rumors.
Meanwhile, Kim Sae-ron's aunt made an emotional public statement, accusing Kim Soo-hyun of betraying her niece. She criticized him for denying their relationship despite allegedly being the reason why Kim Sae-ron left YG Entertainment to sign with Gold Medalist. She harshly stated, "He is worse than a murderer. A murderer is not just someone who kills with a knife."
With tensions escalating, the entertainment industry and fans alike eagerly await the Gold Medalist's official response next week, which may determine Kim Soo-hyun's fate in the industry.
The controversy has dominated headlines, with netizens expressing outrage over the allegations. Many have condemned Kim Soo-hyun, calling him a predator and criticizing his alleged pursuit of younger women. Others remain skeptical of the accusations, urging people to wait for Gold Medalist's formal clarification before jumping to conclusions.
As the scandal unfolds, all eyes are on the upcoming statement from Gold Medalist, which will likely play a crucial role in shaping public perception of Kim Soo-hyun's involvement in this highly contentious case.
