Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Friday (March 7) that the party and the central government are highly concerned about our compatriots overseas.
"2024, we have safely withdrawn more than 10,000 Chinese citizens from Lebanon, Haiti and other high-risk areas, handled more than 50,000 cases of consular protection, answered more than 500,000 calls to the 12308 consular protection hot line, and released more than 5,000 overseas safety reminders."
Wang Yi said that the fraudulent use of Internet gambling and telecommunications is a major concern of the people, and it is also an important issue that we will not let go of. For some time now, under the joint concern of the leaders of China and neighboring countries, the law enforcement and foreign affairs departments have made concerted efforts to effectively carry out cross-border cooperation and make every effort to rescue Chinese citizens in distress.
All the fraudulent areas in northern Burma near the border have been cleared, and China, Thailand, Myanmar and Laos are now working together to crack down on fraud in the Thai-Burma border area, according to Wang.
"Our mission is to remove the tumor of Internet fraud," he said.
