Recently, a photo circulated on social media showing a luxury car parked in the parking lot of a public housing estate, estimated to be worth around HK$3 million. Witnesses expressed concerns about potential misuse of public housing, posting comments like, "They said they would clear out wealthy tenants."
The image features a Mercedes-Maybach S580 4Matic, which starts at approximately HK$2.98 million. Some netizens commented that anyone who can afford such an expensive vehicle likely exceeds the asset limits for public housing.
However, others speculated that the car might belong to a company, suggesting that its value may not count against personal asset limits. Comments included remarks like, "This isn't just about HK$1.9 million; someone who can buy a HK$3 million car is unlikely to be an average person. Of course, they could just be a driver taking it home," and "It's likely a company car; I've seen a Rolls-Royce parked in a public housing lot coming and going frequently."
Some netizens emphasized that, regardless of the situation, the original poster should report the matter to the Housing Authority, stating, "You should report it first and let the Housing Authority investigate."
