The "yellow shop" Yau Lei Bistro has seen the closure of all five of its branches, raising concerns among fans and employees alike. Reports suggest that the owner left for Taiwan last June, taking a significant amount of luggage with him, leading to speculation about the establishment's financial troubles.
On March 3, the creditor filed a petition in the High Court to wind up Yau Lei Bistro, with a hearing scheduled for May 7 at 9:30 a.m.
Additionally, the ice room has been accused of failing to pay salaries and rent. Earlier, six employees successfully filed a claim with the Labour Tribunal to recover over HK$190,000 in unpaid wages.
The five branches of Yau Lei Bistro were located at:
- D2 Place TWO, Lai Chi Kok
- Pioneer Centre, Prince Edward
- The Quayside, Kwun Tong
- COS Centre, Kwun Tong
- Hong Keung Street, San Po Kong
All locations are now closed.
