The Media Center, located on the north side of West Chang'an Avenue in Beijing, serves as the press hub for the National Two Sessions each year. Following tradition, this venue provides a central space for journalists covering China's most significant annual political meetings. Today, we take an exclusive look at the first day of operations inside the Media Center.
A Hub Growing Busier by the Day
The Media Center becomes increasingly active and dynamic as the Two Sessions draw near. Staff members are in the final stages of preparation, ensuring everything is in place for seamless operations. The press conference halls and interview rooms are already set up, and journalists from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas media have started arriving to collect their accreditation passes.
A Modern News and Information Hub
Beyond being a news distribution center, the Media Center also serves as a platform for innovative media services. This year, the Two Sessions press center has integrated online platforms to provide convenient information access for domestic and international journalists. During the meetings, electronic versions of key documents will be made available, reducing the need for physical copies and long waiting times.
A Growing Global Media Presence
So far, over 3,000 journalists have registered to cover the Two Sessions, including over 2,000 from mainland China and over 1,000 from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and foreign media. This marks a noticeable increase in media participation compared to last year, reflecting the growing global interest in China's annual political event.
The "Home of the Media"
Journalists affectionately refer to the Media Center as the "Home of the Media," thanks to its convenient and welcoming environment. The center has dedicated workspaces featuring high-speed internet access and workstations, charging stations for mobile devices, and—perhaps most importantly—a refreshment area offering snacks and beverages throughout the day.
