At around 10:20 AM today (Feb. 27), a construction site at 120 Texaco Road, Tsuen Wan, caught fire, producing a large amount of thick smoke.
Police and firefighters arrived at the scene, initially believing that scaffolding was on fire. Firefighters used a ladder to control the flames and extinguished the fire at around 10:40 AM. Approximately 180 workers at the site needed to be evacuated, and ambulances were on standby; fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Transport Department announced that due to the fire, the entire section of Texaco Road (towards Tsuen Kam Interchange) near the Tsuen Kam Interchange is now closed. Drivers are advised to consider alternative routes, as traffic in the area is currently heavy.
