Tesla announced today (Feb. 25) that it will roll out a software update in batches for its customers in China, introducing the Autopilot functionality for urban roads, which optimizes the existing Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) feature.
The Autopilot will assist driving on controlled roadways (main roads where users enter and exit via on-ramps and off-ramps) and urban roads. It will guide vehicles to exit ramps and intersections based on the navigation route, recognize traffic signals at intersections, and perform actions such as going straight, turning left, turning right, or making U-turns. Additionally, it will automatically change lanes based on speed and route.
When no navigation route is set, the system will select the optimal road based on actual road conditions.
