Directed by Chen Sicheng, starring Wang Baoqiang, Liu Haoran and guest starring Chow Yun-fat, "Detective Chinatown 1900" is now playing in Hong Kong and Macao.

A few days ago, Chow attended the movie, and hundreds of runners came to the theater, including Lo Hoi-pang, Lau Kong, Cheung Tat-Ming, Felix Wong, a couple of Tommy Leung and so on, and the whole audience applauded when the lights were turned on at the end of the movie.

In the movie, Chow Yun-fat's character speaks in full English during a hearing about the injustice done to the Chinese community in the United States in 1900.
According to Maoyan's data, "Detective Chinatown 1900" has grossed more than RMB 3.1 billion in China so far, and the movie was released in Hong Kong last week (Feb. 13) and was also the champion of the Mainland box office on that day.

After watching the movie for the first time, Chow said he is very happy and praises Chen Sicheng publicly, "Director Chen has put together different elements such as lightheartedness, suspense, and historical sentiment, etc., and the movie has distinctive layers and is all-encompassing."
Netizens also expressed their appreciation for Chow's performance in the film, especially for a long dialogue scene in English. He said, "I did do a lot of preparation beforehand, including taking a video clip of myself so that the director would know how I planned to handle the scene, and that made the filming go smoothly."
