Pingshu or pinghua is an ancient traditional Chinese oral telling and performing art form, which became popular in the Song Dynasty. Storytellers in different regions tell different stories in their native dialects, and therefore, pingshu becomes part of China's dialect culture. As a traditional art form, not only is it widely circulated throughout China, but it was also inscribed on the China Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2008.
