
On Feb. 12, Myanmar transferred 261 rescued individuals from scam compounds to Thailand, with the Thai military escorting them into the country, according to a report from CCTV News. Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwan stated that Myanmar is expected to transfer an additional 7,000 individuals involved in scam operations to Thailand in the near future.
Since Feb. 5, the Thai government has intensified measures to crack down on scam activities near the Myanmar border. Authorities have cut off electricity and internet services at five border locations and halted fuel supplies to these areas, significantly disrupting the operations of scam compounds.
On Feb. 6, the Chinese Consulate General in Chiang Mai announced that 61 victims were rescued from a scam compound in Myawaddy, Myanmar. Among them were 39 Chinese nationals.
