
Cited by Yonhap News Agency, the Supreme Court of Korea dismissed the appeal of the defendant Kim in the case of the attack on Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party in South Korea, and sentenced Kim to 15 years imprisonment and five years of protection observation, and upheld the original verdict.
According to the report, Kim disguised himself as a supporter of Lee Jae-myung and approached him on January 2, 2024, at the Gadeokdo watchtower in Gangseo District, Busan, and then stabbed Lee Jae-myung in the neck in an attempt to kill him. As a result of the attack, Lee Jae-myung suffered a 9mm vein injury in his neck and was hospitalized for 8 days.
