Chief Executive John Lee on Monday (Feb. 10) paid a visit to ice hockey players who were injured during a post-game fight between players from Hong Kong, China and Turkmenistan at the Winter Asian Games in Harbin.

He expressed his grave concern over the incident on social media today. As he met the ice hockey team, Sports Minister Rosanna Law and Chief Executive Office Director Carol Yip flanked him.

He said the trio were fine and should be able to play in Monday night's quarter-final clash against Kyrgyzstan.

The CE praised the players for staying calm and showing restraint during the incident, describing them as professional and sportsmanlike.

"I encourage them to maintain the best mental condition and play with a professional attitude, not to be affected by any incident," Lee wrote on social media.

"I also expressed the support of Hong Kong people for the ice hockey team, and encourage the team members to keep it up and focus on the upcoming games."

The chief executive also called on the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, and the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau to follow up on the matter, and ensure the safety of the SAR's athletes.
