The Hong Kong Observatory said today (Feb. 7) that a strong winter monsoon is gradually affecting the coast of southern China, and a cold weather warning will be issued for Hong Kong as temperatures gradually drop later today.

The Observatory predicts that the temperature in the urban area will be around 11 degrees in the morning of Saturday (Feb. 8), and will drop to 9 to 10 degrees on Sunday (Feb. 9), likely to be the lowest since the beginning of winter. It will be bitterly cold in many parts of the New Territories in the morning over the weekend, and the temperature in the highlands may be close to freezing point, and the temperature perceived by the body will be lower than the actual temperature due to the more significant wind chill.

In addition, the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon will be held on Sunday. The observatory expects that it will be cold in the morning and evening on that day, so participants should wear suitable clothing and do enough warm-up exercises.
