According to Xinhua, reporter learned from the National Immigration Administration on Feb. 5 that the border control agencies nationwide guaranteed a total of 14.366 million person-times of entry and exit of Chinese and foreigners during this year's Spring Festival holiday, an increase of 6.3% compared with the same period of last year's Spring Festival.

Among them, there were 7.671 million entry and exit trips by mainland residents, an increase of 5% over the same period of last year; 5.737 million trips by Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents, an increase of 5.6% over the same period of last year; and 958,000 trips by foreigners, an increase of 22.9% over the same period of last year. A total of 525,000 traffic and transportation (ships, trains and vehicles) were inspected and checked, an increase of 14.4% compared with the same period of last Spring Festival, resulting in stable and orderly customs clearance at sea, land and airports across the country.

In accordance with the unified deployment of the National Immigration Administration, the border control authorities across the country mobilized the entire police force and acted proactively, forecasting and announcing to the society in advance the peak hours of the flow of people entering and leaving the country at various border control points, and advising and guiding the majority of the passengers entering and leaving the country to make reasonable arrangements for their itineraries and to travel in a staggered manner. The police also closely cooperated with the joint inspection units at the border control points and the relevant local departments to ensure that the passenger flow during the peak period is properly diverted and that the traffic support is comprehensively guaranteed to maximize the convenience for passengers to pass through customs and jointly ensure that the customs clearance at the border control points is safe, efficient and smooth.
