The second day of the Lunar New Year marks the "Che Kung Festival," and this morning (January 30), large crowds of worshippers flocked to the Che Kung Temple to pray, draw divination sticks, and seek blessings for good fortune. Many also struck the ceremonial drum to symbolically "check in" with General Che Kung.
The Hong Kong Observatory reported that today's weather will be generally cloudy, with some sunshine and dry weather. The maximum temperature will reach around 18°C, accompanied by moderate to fresh easterly winds, occasionally strong offshore and on high ground. On the third day of the Lunar New Year, winds will strengthen, with a chance of a few light rain patches. Over the weekend, the weather will become warmer and more humid. However, a surge of northerly winds early next week will bring cooler weather, with a cold morning expected on Tuesday.
The Observatory predicts that a moderate to strong easterly airstream will affect the coastal areas of Guangdong in the next two days, leading to increased cloud cover and a few light rain patches, with cool mornings and evenings. As this airstream weakens over the weekend, the coastal areas will experience warmer and more humid conditions during the day. A cold front is expected to reach the southern China coast late Sunday or early Monday, bringing a few rain patches. The associated winter monsoon will result in colder and drier conditions in the region in the following days.
