Wong Tai Sin Temple is now open from 9 pm tonight (Jan. 28). Crowd control measures and a one-way route will be in place.

Members of the public will be allowed to go to the "first incense stick" at 11 pm or 12 midnight. The temple will be open all night until 9 pm on Jan. 29.

In the afternoon, many people began to queue up, including Lana Wong, a 94-year-old artist who is a regular of the "first incense" activity. She has always been carefully dressed up, wearing a red dress, a crown on her head, and a plastic green snake wrapped around her neck.

The incense service will be served at 12 pm at the same time as the bells and drums are ringing to pray for the good faith of all Hong Kong people. Wong Tai Sin Temple had earlier estimated that about 30,000 to 40,000 people attended the "incense sticks" and that the number of visitors during the Spring Festival was close to 1 million, similar to previous years.

Wong Tai Sin Temple reminds people that it is forbidden to bring candles, oil sources and large incense sticks into the ancestral hall. It is recommended to bring 9 incense sticks per family unit. The opening hours of Wong Tai Sin Temple on the 2nd to 14th of the New Year are 7:30 am to 6 pm. The Lantern Festival will be open until 9 pm.
