A strong monsoon signal is currently in effect across Hong Kong, with various areas experiencing high winds. Last night (Jan. 26), around 10 pm, three stalls at the Tsz Wan Shan Lunar New Year Fair were blown over by the strong winds, fortunately resulting in no injuries.
Residents shared photos of the scene in a community group, commenting, "The strong wind has knocked everything down." One image showed a stall set up by the Salvation Army William Booth Secondary School that appeared to have collapsed, with its tent structure down and goods reportedly trapped underneath. A particularly amusing photo showed a fallen tent beside a large panda and a heart-shaped photo booth, with the panda humorously positioned as if it were raising a finger, eliciting laughter from netizens. Comments included "I feel guilty for laughing" and "Poor panda XDD." The other two affected stalls were selling plush toys and balloons.
This year's Lunar New Year Fair in the Wong Tai Sin District was held at the Tsz Wan Shan Estate Central Playground for the first time, but foot traffic has been slow, with only about 20 stalls present. Some locals commented, "There's already no business, and now everything is blown over."
Additionally, the Lunar New Year Fair at Cheung Sha Wan Sports Ground was also hit by strong winds early this morning (Jan. 27), causing many stalls selling flowers and potted plants to be damaged.
