At approximately 5 am on the morning of Jan. 22, a murder occurred in Yuen Long, where two men and two women were attacked by at least six assailants armed with knives after spending time at a bar on the upper floor of a factory building.

One of the men, who reportedly had gang affiliations, was fatally stabbed multiple times, while another man accompanying him was also injured. The incident is believed to be linked to gang-related disputes, prompting the police to initiate a large-scale anti-gang operation in response to recent gang violence.

Around 10 pm that evening, officers from the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau and the Police Tactical Unit conducted inspections of nightclubs in Yuen Long to combat illegal gang activities and apprehend the attackers.

The deceased, a 24-year-old man surnamed Chan, was said to be active in the South Yuen Long area and believed to have gang ties, while the injured man claimed to have no connections to organized crime. The police are treating the case as murder and assault.

Surveillance footage showed four individuals hailing a taxi outside the factory building when four private cars arrived. One car blocked the taxi's exit, and multiple armed men jumped out, pursuing the two men with knives. The man in white, intending to get into the taxi, immediately fled to the left upon witnessing the attack, while another man in black ran to the right. The two women also ran back into the factory, with one woman in white being pushed to the ground and the woman in black appearing visibly shaken.

Afterward, the assailants returned to their vehicles and fled the scene. Surprisingly, the injured man in white returned to the scene, attempting to open the taxi door but was unsuccessful. Two attackers then exited their car and continued to stab him. He eventually collapsed from his injuries. As the last black private car left the scene, another attacker got out and stabbed the man in white again, who fell to the ground motionless.

The police stated on their Facebook page that to combat triad activities and disrupt their revenue sources, personnel from the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau collaborated with various district criminal headquarters, and the Police Tactical Unit to launch an anti-triad operation. Over 900 officers were deployed to raid multiple locations, resulting in several arrests and ongoing large-scale sweeps. The police reiterated that combating triad activities is a top priority for the Commissioner of Police, and they will not tolerate any illegal activities.
