Over 60 HKU students scammed out of HK$60 mn, anti-fraud quiz required for library access
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has revealed that in recent months, more than 60 students have been scammed, with total losses exceeding HK$60 million. In response, the university has implemented a new policy requiring students to complete a multiple-choice anti-fraud questionnaire provided by the HK Police Force.
According to an email sent to students last Thursday (Jan. 16), the questionnaire aims to raise awareness and protect students from becoming victims of fraud. Students must complete the quiz between Jan. 20 and Feb. 10. Failure to do so may result in being denied access to university libraries and shared study spaces.
HKU's initiative follows a similar move by HK Polytechnic University, making it the second institution in the city to implement such a measure.
