At least 30 people were injured, with 17 suffering serious injuries, after a cable car accident at a ski resort in northern Spain on Jan. 18. The resort, located in the Pyrenees Mountains near the French border, became the scene of chaos when a possible cable failure caused passengers to fall from the gondolas.
Eyewitnesses described the harrowing moment when the cable reportedly snapped, throwing riders out of the cable cars and onto the snowy ground below.
Photos and videos circulating on social media show injured victims lying in the snow as emergency responders, including ambulances and helicopters, worked to transport them to nearby hospitals. Local media reported that dozens of people were left stranded in the suspended cable cars, awaiting rescue operations.
