TikTok's CEO, Chew Shou Zi, stated through a video on TikTok on Jan. 17 that they will do their utmost to ensure the continued prosperity of the TikTok platform.
Earlier that day, the United States Supreme Court ruled that the law requiring TikTok to be sold or banned was not unconstitutional. This means that the Supreme Court allows the law to go into effect as planned on Jan. 19.
Chew responded by saying that U.S. President-elect Trump promised to work with TikTok to find a solution that allows TikTok to remain accessible in the U.S. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the company's entire staff and every user to Trump.
Chew mentioned that people can create communities on TikTok, discover new hobbies, and express themselves, and over 7 million American businesses use it for livelihood and customer acquisition. He also thanked American users for enriching TikTok's content.
On the same day, Trump stated on social media that the Supreme Court's decision was expected, but his decision regarding TikTok will be made in the near future, stating that he needed time to review the situation.
